I have a 1600 engine that i am rebuilding. I noticed that there is no casting marking on the head to indicate the size. From 2 sources i see that i should have a circle with either a "+" or a "|" inside the circle to indicate a 1600.
Actually my engine block also lacks a number which a bb member informed me that it is a factory replacemnet block. I am wondering if the head is also a factory replacement. anyone have any ideas?

thanks

I've got one of those too, I think it is just an early 1600 head as mine is from a 64 sprint GT, I'm guessing it doesnt have the tabs on the front of the cam cover where the extra two bolts go through in later 105 series engines.

Did you check your engine for a number on the back near where the bellhousing bolts on?

thanks. No... my cam cover has the two bolt holes on the front so its not the older type.
