Obviously these ball joints are used on only the 750 and 101 Spiders - though possibly also on the Sprints, etc.

I've installed the lower ball joint without any overly amount of problems. However it seems on the upper ring nut's spring has been completely collapsed with three threads to go. This is with using a two foot socket wrench with a three foot cheater 'bar'.

I even used the original cups since I was much farther away with them.

I hate to say this but I don't see any way of getting it/them down to no more threads showing. The ball joint is incredibly stiff as it is and am considering telling my client as the ball joints loosen after a number of miles to tighten the nut rings with a 27mm socket or take it to a shop to have it done.

Cop Out?

You might get more help in a forum dedicated to 750-101 cars. The 1900-2000-2600 cars don’t use ball joints at all.
