My GTV6 came with these plush floor mats, but unfortunately they have faded to a green color. I have some black RIT dye and was thinking of trying to dye them black again, but wondering if anybody else has tried this with any success?

I've had good success with a spray can of SEM color coat flexible coating on similarly faded GTV 6 carpeting.
They didn’t get crunchy? I tried something similar once, but it might not have been SEM.

Ian, I used the SEM spray color also. Great Black color and doesn’t transfer to my skin or clothes, no matter how much I crawl around on it doing other stuff under the dash. My experience with dyes is that they transfer to fabrics if they get wet or warm.

I didn't have much luck with all-purpose RIT on nylon car carpets. They have a new "DyeMore" product specifically for synthetics, though...maybe that would work better?

Amazon carries several fabric spray paints that claim to dry soft.

I tried once to dye my flor carpeting to make it black (original is tan).
I used a specific dye for synthetics..... I was not successfull. Thank god I tried under thepassenger seat only:) Tan was still poking out of the blaskness :) :) :)
I would however love to try again if someone has any proposals about the products:)

I've used cheap hardware store spray paint on the GTV6 floor mats. Worked a charm. Don't soak them with paint, just dust them until the green goes away.

Disregard, I looked into it and apparently this requires a long high temperature soak. So unless you've got a really big cauldron or something probably not the best idea.

I successfully brought back the blue on my carpet in my 82 gtv6 with RIT dye. I mixed it with warm water and sprayed it over the carpet, and it brought it back. it is still holding up 2.5 years later. I'll look to see if I can find photos later.

With all due respect, I suggest you leave them alone. They reflect nature. They reflect the life of the car. The interior looks great, let it live its life as God intended.

Counterpoint: those are pretty shot. So hail Satan, and fix those suckers! 🤘

In all seriousness Ian, since it's just the mats there's not much risk in trying some dye or spray on a small area and seeing what works. If they get messed up, well, they were shot anyway and needed replacing.

The folks at Cocomats.com are great to work with. They likely have patterns for the GTV-6 already, and if not you can send them a trace and they'll custom make them. Coco looks super cool, and when they fade I just respray them with regular spray paint and they're like new.

They have a variety of fabric options as well if you don't want to go with coco.
