Hardtop in excellent condition. Purchased new with the vehicle in 1987, however I believe the dealer took a top from a Quad (red) and repainted it (blue met) to match the car. The top has been stored in garage since the car was disposed about 10 years ago (car was totaled by other driver; top was not installed at the time). J-hooks included; attach points in great condition; overhead light and defroster work as new; some slight mildew on top liner; paint has faded but in great shape. Top is located near Annapolis, MD about 20 miles from BWI Airport, Port of Baltimore, and Amtrak station; 4 miles from I-97 and 10 miles from I-95. $700 OBO

You might want to list this in the for sale/wanted section of the AlfaBB to get more results.

How is the weatherstripping along the edge? I might be interested depending on the price.

Lucky you. He is almost in your backyard. Does your quad not have the original hard top?

No I wish :( lots of things were missing from the PO, but that one stumps me, how does a hardtop just go away? Rare you find a hardtop in our area.

Not sure on that. Previous owners have caused me a lot of grief. Some people should not be allowed to turn a wrench or buy certain cars. I thought that all quads came with the hard top and that it was optional for all others from 1986 and up.
Two years ago, I found one 2 hours from my house for my 1990. Lucky find.

There is a guy here on the BB that is having all the weatherstripping made.

The top was an option on the 1986 Quad. Very few were ordered. So Alfa made them standard equipment for the 87 to 90 Quad's.

In the fall of 87. Alfa offered all the hardtops that were sitting in the warehouse for sale to the dealers for around 500.00 each. You then had to buy all the pieces to install them. They were only available in red, black and silver. The quad colors.

So any top found on on a spider other then a Quad thats a different color will have been painted.

For the S4 model years. The top was offered as an option.

That guy goes by mozzafiato on this forum.
You can message him about where things stand with the new seals.

Hi guys, I'm new. Just got an 84 Spider. Jim G you mentioned mozzafiato is having all weatherstripping made; I'm having a similar issue with my 84; it came with an aftermarket hardtop originally produced by Parrish Plastics. That company and all supplies/plans/etc. was purchase by a company named Smoothline. Smoothline's website says they have all rubber weatherstripping for repairs/replacement but when you contact them they are unpleasant and say they don't have anything available but are happy to sell me a new hardtop for $1,350. All FB reviews indicate Smoothline is not reputable or reliable. So where can I source new rubber? Centerline Alfa has a very limited selection (clasps and J-bolts) but not the rubber. Any suggestions? Thanks, Peter

I would guess that Smoothline is your only choice. Since its an aftermarket top. The weatherstripping is going to be different from the factory hardtops.

Thanks Jim, I am finding the weatherstripping to be challenging to locate...
Try calling them a couple of times. Maybe you will get someone different on the phone.
