Does anyone know where I might find those small black plastic covers that clip into the inside of the removable hard tops (covering the inside top hooks) on a Spider Quad? My car came with only the passenger side one. I'm willing to pay practically a small fortune to get a drivers' side one!

I would try the Alfa Parts Catalog first. Don't expect to find it on their site. Give them a call. (No matter where you get them from, be prepared to pay the "small fortune" you mentioned. They were never cheap, even when readily available.)

ya im missing mine too. cant find them. APE doesnt have them. the problem is that there was no part number for it, it was not available as a replacement part. alfaparts either.

im interested in fabricating one possibly. could you possibly provide a close-up photo of the passenger side one when taken off? (ive seen it on. )

Guido,
That's not the case. These break very easily (terrible design to remove), and it is common for owners to have had to buy new ones. I have two new ones, in the Alfa bags, and I know at least one of them has the sticker with the part number on them. The Alfa repair shop in Cincinnati got them for me, about a year ago. (Sorry, I can't check right now, as I am in NJ...)

Best regards,

oh sweet!! then i can find it. youre right on then, alfaparts or arricambi are the type of reseller with italian-speaking connections that usually go out and 'find' you the part.

and also IMO theyre quite inexpensive!! my 1990 radiator hose and my custom hardtop defogger switch were both cheaper than any online source available for their common-stock stuff.

i just cant pimp alfaparts.com enough.

and if we both call her about it, she will be that much more pressed to source it for us.

i personally will buy two sets

I've got both mine. Earlier in the spring one of the tabs broke off. I super-glued it back, but since I know they are somewhat scarce I leave em off to preserve them for another day!

I agree that the design leaves something to be desired.

Hopefully someday recreations of these kind of parts will become available in the aftermarket. I'm not holding my breath though. I'd love to get ahold of the hardtop door gaskets, but haven't had the heart to find out that they are unobtainium (which I'm sure someone will confirm)

Thanks for your responses, guys. I will try a few of the parts places by phone and see what I come up with. BTW, I agree - the part is a terrible design. This is my second Quad, and I have succeeded in breaking the tabs off of all of them!

Meanwhile, I will take a photo of the one I do have (sans tabs!) and post it.

Enrique, if you find the name of the place you got them from, could you let me know? Thanks.

I've just checked the Fiat Group's on-line parts catalog, and these covers are listed "discontiniued, no replacement". There parts no. are

60519456 LH
Several of other parts are still avaiable incl. many of the gaskets and the top complete - at a price US$ 6100.
Here is the link to the catalog for US Spider '90>

Erik,
Thanks for the info! Which section in the on-line catalog has the top parts?

The link I send is my personal setup, click in ePER in top lh corner (red) and select market and currency.
The Danish words are "Konfiguration," in the window you select "Navigationssprog, Informationssprog, Marked" = English (US market isn't avaiable
Hardtop is exterior equibment.

Erik,
Yes, the non-existent U.S.A. market was throwing me off... Now I can get to everything. I see the parts being discontinued. This is very helpful. Thanks again! Do you know if there is an on-line catalog for Spiders earlier than 1990?

No, not official Fiat/Alfa anyway. But some of the Alfa classico parts venders over here have good catalogs, you may know some of the British but here are the links, then there are some very good German and Dutch ones - if you like more just respond to this entry, I have some more at work.

Thanks, Erik. This is good for now. I am familiar with the European sites, but had never seen the FIAT/Alfa official site...
