Anyone ever make up a hard tonneau cover behind the seats?

Considering just leaving the soft top and bows off the Spider since I have an after-market hard top for winter.

Seems I could use the soft top mounts to put in a seat belt bar for a proper 4-point harness and clean up that big opening with a hard cover.
Similar to early T-Bird convertibles.
Maybe even put on a pair of head-fairings?
If hinged it would increase convenient luggage space considerably.

Just an idea, so far.

£3,500 is a bargain price if the rest of the car is rust free. Its a nice looking modification and the seats look pretty comfy :smile2:
The wheel well would be an easy repair.

I guess the problem with a hard tonneau cover is what you do if you are caught out in the rain - it doesn't look like it will fit in the trunk. Probably not something to worry about in Nevada but we occasionally get the odd drop of rain over here :whistling:

I think the hard tonneau on the yellow engstler spider above is in two parts, I recall seeing a better photo from above some time ago that showed this better.

We do get summer thunderstorms, rains hard for a few minutes then clears up.
Kids in passing cars are highly amused to see us drive roadsters during the storms.
Over three hundred dry days per year here, so hard top only for winter warmth.
