I'm putting in my last pair of "good" door strikes on my GTV6 today. For the prior ones, the rubber bushings inside the outer rings are all dry-rotted, making closing the door difficult. I can keep buying the used ones but they tend to be close to their last legs already. I've tried to rebuild one but taking out the compression ring and putting it back is quite nasty. I ended up breaking the ring. I've also tried the ones used on 1965-1969 Mustangs. They fit the mounting holes perfectly but are too small to work with the GTV6 latches.

Anyone try to rebuild these before? I've seen some posts in which there have been successful attempts. Any special tool that can take out and put back the ring a bit more manageable?

Thanks

Witty
