I don't know for sure, but would bet that the two tanks are the same except for the filler.
Note that Centerline's Fall Flyer (I got one in the mail a week or so ago) listed both GTV and Spider repro fuel tanks. You might call them to discuss your application.
If the tank mountings are interchangable, you might want a spider tank anyways, and couple it to your old filler neck with a section of hose. As you may know, maneuvering the GTV tank with welded-on filler into place is pretty much impossible with the boot installed. And, if you drop the tank in first, and then attempt to fit the boot, it won't go on. Saw off the welded-on filler, mount the boot first, drop in the tank, and then attach the filler - that's the easy way.
I bought a section of flexible fuel filler hose at my local NAPA store for about $4.
