Hi, I have a set of GTA/GTAj wires that have Bosch plug end on them. The number on the cap is KEA7J11Z; if that is a part number I have not yet been able to trace it.

Were these Bosch ends very commonly used? Does anyone have or know were I might get a couple to replace 2 that are broken?

Regards

Ken

The Bosch end looks similar to what is shown in the GTA parts book 1104 as well as the Sprint GT/GTA parts book. I don't have a GTAj book to check. Anyone

The third picture is what is currently available from Alfaholics, what is it a repro of?? The Magneti Marelli cap??

Ken, I have seen both of these styles before. I had 12 of the Bosch that eventually went on a Ferrari. They WERE a Mercedes Benz part. I've a good friend that is a MB restorer and will send him your pictures.

I am still in need of 2 of these Bosch type spark plug wire ends and leads to a source of the special distributor side wire ends and the rubber boots.

I have also been told that the ribbed type cap I pictured above are not period correct for GTA.

Thanks in advance

He checked, and then I went through all his old stuff with him, but the hard phenolic connectors appear to be long gone. The current MB parts are a soft plastic that does not even look right. Have you checked with Roman Tucker? He may have an idea, as well as Keith Goring. Roman is restoring Keith's GTA. Keith is a pack-rat with the old stuff like me, and just might have some good used spares.

Hi Ken,
I have a set of 4 (which I will have to find) with one that's no good. I can get them to you if you like. I would be happy to see them on a real GTA.
Jim
Hi Jim, thanks for the kind offer. Are they still with the wire? An e-mail is sent.

Ciao

Hi Ken,
My most humble apologies! After my last email I went and found them....I was incorrect, they don't have the GTA ends, they have straight caps onto the plugs, however, they are the correct leads which look to be in good condition (haven't put a meter on them though). Again my sincere apologies. Age is catching up with me.

Hello Ken
(without obligation), one of my friends holders of GTA, I'll try to ask if they have the cap to give / sell.
(maybe) I can find it at Monza next Saturday, June 4, there is a market for vintage parts
you also know that within the cap there is a "rubber" rose to hold the cap securely in place
best regards
Max

Uli,
Your right. Currently. You may be right back in time. However, 3 of us, all over the age of 60, have seen them on BOSCH looms, all of us working at different MB shops in the US.
I'm not saying you are incorrect. You must be incorrect AND confused to join this club. Being the charter member, I can nominate the 2 other friends mentioned if you wish.

If any of the three of us could remember that, I would have some for Ken. If you know any older guys that worked for MB, would you check with them there in Europe? This may have been a USA only situation. It was as far back as at least 1970, perhaps even earlier. I have not worked there since '72.

Ciao Ken,

Those ends you have pictured were actully used in-house by Autodelta with larger mm spark plug wires on the factory ex-works Autodelta GTA's. The stradale Cavis 5mm green wires were not adequate for the tuned Autodelta (AD) corsa motors but were used on GTA stradales. The spark plug wires I have seen Autodelta use were large diamater and orange with these end caps you have pictured. These spark plug wires I mentioned only came on the Autodelta ex-works 1600 GTA Corsa and on the ex-works narrow angle head GTA Jr. Corsa's. If you would like to PM or email me we can discuss in more detail. I have a picuture of the wires and caps as well on a ex-works corsa.

Seems like these leads ends are perfect candidates for 3D scanning and a 3D printer to do some reproductions.
