Well it’s been too long away, but I’m back in the game again!

Off with rear wing and repairs begin on b-pillar.

Ok it’s time for the c-pillar repairs.
These are pretty complex and to get to rusty part A, you need to hack out rusty part B and C....and maybe D! 😀

anyway - here’s what we started with and cut back to.

So cut away and remade the inner C-pillar panel. Still some weld tidying to do.
1658141

Then the inner arch to cut out and make a repair panel.

1658144

Then the middle panel repair section is made. Needs a bit of tweaking and welding in (I ran out of time to complete today.

Then it’s the curve profile where trailing edge of rear side window sites...and then move down onto the suspension, wheel well, rear seat panel repairs 🤓

Yes - but it’s a bit complex.
The rear parcel shelf to rear window flange area looks a tricky one!

Trimmed up the repair patch I made up last week and welded here in.

Started making inner piece. But will hold off on that as the whole lower windscreen edge /parcel shelf area has holes all the way along.
I will save this repair until the car is back on the rotisserie and access will be easier. I can flip the car 90 degree and work on it without craning over the rear wing and boot/trunk.

Today’s project, aside from fixing my air compressor, was to modify my mig trolley to accept a tig welder and the extra gas bottle. Fancied try tig for a while, and a good quality used one came my way!

Over the holidays I finally started the teardown of my rusty old friend.
The most used equipment so far had been the dustpan and brush - sweeping up everything that falls off when I exert any force onto bolts etc!

Once its stripped then its off to the sodablasters.

Anyway - please see some photos of progress so far. front and rear running gear and interior/glass left to do.

Front lower corner virtually non-existent!

Front anti-rollbar mounting and rail rusted away

right rear

left rear - axle strap mount rusted off

left side

right side footwell and sill/rocker
I'll be posting some photos soon how I repaired the front chassis as new parts aren't available

Nice to be back in the workshop making some noise!
Today was ‘cut out and remake lower inner rear wheel well and under seat panels’ day.

Inner well piece was pretty easy to make. The under seat panel a bit trickier.

Ready to tack in. A job for another day.

Time to tackle the rear suspension turret/chassis area that has rotted away!

It’s like peeling a rusty onion. Cuts back three layers and build back and weld in new piece .

Axle strap area next....

Removed the axle strap hanger. Not to bad behind there. The bottom edge was rusted out so cut out and patched. One area had a small rust hole and the other area damaged when pulling spot welds/bracket off - so cot those areas out and rewelded new metal.

Rear wheel well repairs done.
An internal rear seat patch to make, then it’s time to weld on the classic Alfa arch repair section...and fit rear wing. Yeehaa!
