Just about to put the rear axle, new trailing arms, springs, shocks etc back on my '81 spider.

When I took it all off there was a considerable amount of thick grease in the spring pans and around the top plate above the spring too. Should I be applying similar to the new parts when refitting? If so what grease to use?

Thanks for any advice.

I've never seen that and all the grease will do is attract road grit and creat an abrasive goo.

Maybe someone was chasing a noise and thought the spring seats were a possibility.

plus, there is a small drain hole in the trailing arm spring pan, which you don't really want to block up with grease!
