Hi!

Saw your post on alfaowner... I followed the auction as well, was amazed at the price!

Should make for a FUN project. I soooo wished that I lived in the UK when I saw it :(
car

- That was the Series 2 4-door, right? Funny to see another in Giallo Pompei :)

I chatted a bit with the seller, seemed like a really nice guy, also had a Ti which was his pride and joy. Hope that the Series 2 went to a good home, seemed like it was ready to be rescued...

Keep us updated on your progress, right???
Nice find, I guess Alfasud's are getting harder to find round your way these days! WHats the plan for it, rebuild it to original spec and cherish it? Looks like a good solid base to start from, congrats!
car

im going to restore it and i think i will fit a 1.7 8v engine into it then maybe later a 16v with carbs but that will be a lot later .
when it done am going to keep it in my garage and use just in the summer as have been on the look out for one for a while .:D
great stuff, be sure to post more pics as it progresses! :D
car

the car arrived today at 3 oclock and i would like to thank jerome who i got the car off as he goes on this site also:) for sorting the transport out and for the alfa sud ti greencloverleaf .
im going to take some pictures maybe tomorrow if i get the time if not later this week ,car is quite sound needs a few repairs here and there but overall a good solid shell, will start with the body getting the rust done and preparing the car for the bodyshop and am going to keep it black as i think it will look nice in that colour but was thinking of the mad lambourghi mettalic orange or do you think it would not suit the car or should i stay to more of a standard colour.
p.s will update with pics as i do the car and jerome i will keep you informed of the progress and if i need any parts i will come to you first cheers mate.:)
Re paint colours, Im not a purist by any means, but I think bold modern colours on a sud dont work all that well. Here in Adelaide there was a Sud getting around that was a bold bronze colour from the locally made Commodore, somehow it never looked right to me. Also when I was choosing colours for my car I tried several reds and found that brighter Ferrari type reds when on the car tended to look out of place. I came across Alfa Rosso 555, which is a deep rich red and has a slight orange hue, which suits the style lines of the car, slightly different from AR 130 that is found on Suds. (Aside - one thing to look out for when choosing a red is that there are blue reds and orange reds and not always do both suit a car.)
Colours that i think suit a Sud from a design perspective - red, blood orange, silver, dark blue, dark grey or black. A metallic with a small fleck in any of the normally 'solid' colours could look stunning. Also be aware that the darker the colour the more time you should spend bodyworking as any imperfections will be highlighted and style lines should be made crisp so they don't get lost.

Hope this helps somewhat..

Josh.

Here are a couple of suggestions...

And these should be included even though they are not metallic, they are just beautiful...

yup, colour choice is no doubt something that will change several times during the project, its a very hard decision to make.

The pics show the colours well, I particularly like the orange on the series 1 Ti. I neglected to mention green earlier and I think it looks good. There were two greens that I know of that suds came in. A solid green, bottom pic (can look quite stunning - my Sud was originally this colour) and a metallic green (Top and 3rd ) both of which I like...
Has anyone got a good picture of a silver series 2 Ti?

im not sure about the metallic green as i used to have a sud tis in that colour which i believe was really rare as it had a series two bootlid with series three rear lights, series 2 dashboard and series two front wings and lights but i scrapped it years ago:( and it was not that bad condition wish i had kept in now.
here are a few nice suds

but i must admit i do like the black one at the bottom which is my model.

They definitely look awesome in black but with no aircon, they would be like a microwave during those aussie summers!!!!
