Has anybody ever replaced the spring in the tube that holds the hood open? Mine no longer holds the hood open.

I've changed pivot pin location but don't know of any adjustment. Then again, I had not thought of that. Will have another look.

Warning. That spring is compressed about a foot and there is a lot of energy there.
My car had a 1 1/2" spacer to help the spring which by now was not enough, I had to add about another 3/4" to it.

@ganunez, thank you and congrats on a beautiful car. I have the same issue with the hood not opening. How did you ultimately fix that?

Like I said, added about 3/4 spacer inside. See my previous comment.

I got that. but in the thread there was a discussion of the hood not popping up when you pulled the lever inside the car. Mine has the same issue so I'm wondering how you resolved that - separate issue from the hood spring.

I added a helper compression spring at the place shown.
I'll take some pictures later.
