hi
I am new to this site, I have been on the 2600 site as I also have a spider.
I purchased a 1965 sprint gt a few months ago,and have found out from archives that the car was originally graphite grey, and not the blue colour it is now. I have been trying to see a picture of this colour but cant find any,has anyone got a picture of a gt in graphite they can post as I would like to go orininal.thanks chris

The code for the colour of the car I posted is AR 716, Grigio Grafite (correct AR spelling).
I know because i researched the colour and painted it. My new favorite colour for early GTV's
Antoni's GTC does look more like 728, not sure about the GTV. 716 can look quite light in certain light conditions.
See 68-69 colour chart attached.
There is also and an article in the 01/20006 issue of Octane magazine featuring a GTV in Grafite.

Neither of the cars are mine (I found the photos when trying to decide what color to paint my car). However, the GTC was described as Grigio Grafite (716/705).

If the budget extends to a retrim, may I suggest the tan leatherette as per the Octane car? A very lovely and rarely-seen combination. Leather was also an option if the factory catalogue is to be believed (and I have seen one or two cars with this option), but you would have to choose your leather carefully and find a trimmer whose sewing machines have a fine enough shuttle to handle Italian-style stitching.

The Graphite Grey GTV that I posted has red leather interior and I love it. But I just painted another GTV in Holland Blue and have a tan interior for it. I'm looking at this beautiful Blue and thinking the red would be fabulous in it and the tan would look great in the grey car... Stay tuned...

WOW! I'm going to need this interior when I get to that point. Nice!

One question, though. Is the trim on the rear ashtrays the original color? I thought they were always black, no matter the color of the interior.

I am almost certain that those are the original rear quarters (not refinished). I know on my '71 they were tan and that was certainly all original. I think it would look kind of goofy to have the seats and door cards one color and the rear quarters different...

I've got a great upholsterer - PM when you're ready.

I also have a 65 graphite grey GT nearing completion. It has a tan interior. WE should have our own graphite club registry!First time I saw Blue flames photo I thought,"hey that's my car, how he get a picture of it.Then I noticed that it was right hand drive.Joe
