Hi Pete,

#775247 is a GTA 1300 Junior.

Ciao, Olaf
Yes aware of that. I'm commenting on this comment:

As a GTA 1300 Junior it would have originally been a narrow body. Somewhere in it's racing life somebody has added GTAm style flares to make it a widebody. The car is being restored as this widebody so therefore surely NOT to original specs? That is the point I am trying to make.

OR are we saying that Autodelta took this car, brand new, and in preparing it for racing converted this GTA to a widebody from new?

I assume also that a new boot floor was installed in the restoration (but it only looks like the spare wheel well was replaced) as I don't understand the need to add the sliding block attachment plates, as surely they would have existed ...

Surely original specs were not as a wide body/GTAm? Maybe restored to a certain period in its history?

Hello Pete,

I checked the book "Alleggerita" 2nd edition.
#775247 was first mentioned on the 22nd of March 1969 as an Alfa Romeo Spa car with licenseplate BS-259814. It isn't clear to me whether it was a narrow or wide body in 1969.
The first picture is from 15/03/1970. It is a wide body in that picture. So at least from 1970 it had a wide body. Sandro Uberti is mentioned as a driver throughout the first 2 years. Giuliano ("Gianfa") Facetti is mentioned as well.

Any other takes on this?

@PSk: „original spec“ is no so clear definition. The condition in which the only thing it achieved was to roll out of the factory - or the condition in which it was in its time creating its history/ successes.…
Exactly. Shouldn't be used, but often bandied around.

So restored to as raced in 1970 would be more accurate

Restored to the way it first left Autodelta I guess...

Hello members,

According to the homologation form 1557/5/3E for GTA 1300 Junior, wide panels front and rear were permitted from 01-01-1970 onwards in Gruppo 2.

So my conclusion would be that in 1969, # 775247 (as all other GTA 1300 Juniors in that year) was a narrow body and from 1970 onwards, it was wide body Gruppo 2 car.

One but ....
From 01-01-1969, small rear fender extensions were valid according to homologation form 1557.
From 01-04-1969, small front fender extensions were permitted according to homologation form 1557/3/1V.

Thank you for posting this. It is nice to see work in progress and the details.
I have the same door handle pulls, they were used on many cars (Porsche RS RSR and other street cars). I am curious why they have them upside down and you can see the attachment screws? If you flip them over they lay just as flat and screws are hidden. Sorry I had to ask.

When historic cars are restored we are always interested in what it is restored to. I took original specifications to mean how it left the factory. And yes when very historic cars are involved nitpicking is what it is all about as we want to know if it is being restored right, etc.

I was hoping original specs meant how she once was, which is more important than a homologation document IMO

Most of the events I fly half the way around the world are to see are cars of the period " racing" , don't do that to see " standard/ road cars,so my interest is in the race cars especially period Autodelta,Alfacorse cars like DTM 155 V6 Ti's etc that weren't available in this part of the " woods" so was extra special to come upon an " original Spec Autodelta car being restored with proper period homolgated parts.i.e no bladder fuel cells, brake balance bars seen on so many repros. On the GTAm forum mention is made of Sordi's " original spec GTAm, looking forward to visiting them & photographing that car as well as their 155GTA on my next visit.

That’s something rare to see today as many original cars which are used in racing up to today are so modified that nothing from the original parts is left…. So always happy to se a real “Periode” car.

Take this “famous” car from Jarama 1972 as example, despite the livery nothing original left…
