I haven an 89 veloce that needed a reworking of the fuel tank and sending unit. I removed the tank and sending unit from the car. Every thing looked so crummy I decided to replace the pump and sending unit with a new one from IAP. Meanwhile, my wife sees this piece of rusted junk laying in the driveway, picks it up, and throws it away. I recieved the pump and sending unit from iap but it does not include the housing that the fuel pump sits in. Ive checked ebay and everywhere else I can think of for this piece to no avail.Does anyone know where I can locate this piece or am I going to have to "engineer" another? Thanks, you all are always a major help. Brian

Brian,

Hate to be a bearer of not so good news -- but the cage isn't going to fit on the fuel sender you got from IAP.

I've been down this path myself just a couple of months ago on my 83 spider.

The good news is that the IAP sender works just fine without the cage. I had my doubts but IAP had an explanation when I called them. The cage is expendable -- the fuel pump will hang on with just the connecting hose -- once it's in the tank it can't go anywhere. For peace of mind I added ty-wraps as hose clamps.
