A new head gasket is about $1300. # 2 cyl means a engine rebuild at over $4000. Post pics and sell as parts car for $400.00 if it's clean.
FS: 1992 Alfa Romeo 164L - Austin, TX
Brand new power steering head, radiator, front brakes, and brake fluid flush (over $2500 in repairs). Great handling and a lot of fun to drive. The exterior paint and leather seats are in good shape as you can see in the pictures. I love this car but it needs some work and being a grad. student I just don’t have the funds to put into it. It has a problem in the 2nd cylinder. Probably just needs a new head gasket. Also has some more minor issues. It runs now, but has overheating problems. Yes I agree with the above if you wanted to buy a used engine it would be $1200+ s/h from APE or $4++k for a rebuild and the car is worth maybe $1800 tops.
