My 84 spider veloce has a nasty rattle coming from my drivers side front bumper shock absorber. I believe it's one of those 5mph safety bumper thing. Is it repairable or replaceable?

I replaced all my hydro shock bumper mounts when I had my 88 repainted. One was collapsed and stayed collapsed and the others were very rusty. While I was searching for replacements I located one new one on ebay for about $125.00.
I ended up buying all used but I was picky about what I bought and would not buy anything rusty. Of course not being rusty is no guarantee that the hydro part still works. I ended up paying $25.00 for one pair and $35.00 for the other. Plus shipping, which is a little high because these things are heavy. They are all the same dimension wise and I suppose they are the same shock force wise, but do not know this for sure. They all carry the same part number painted on the shock units.
