I've seen lots of discussions about this device. Just thought I'd pass the pic along. They say it's a factory part, but it is ebay so you never know. Anyway lots of pics of it for the curious. Allthread and a gearwrench worked for me:)
Ebay # is 270108228242 but it's pretty pricey at $300

That is the factory spring compressor, or at least most of it. It works wonderfully on a lift, but is so big that it's not practical to use if the car is on jack stands. For most people, the allthread option is the best safe option.

Yes, it's the factory tool (with two of the threaded rods missing). A couple of pics of the tool in action are here.

I've used both the front and rear factory spring tools in my garage on my GTV, with my car as high as it would go on normal type jackstands. With shorter sport springs, you don't even have to get the car up all that high. See attached pic. $300 does not seem out of line with what they're going for nowadays.
