This is for a US injected 2000, are the heights different vs the 1600?

I measured my 1600 which has the spin on adapter and my 1750 heights. Both are 280 mm.

I assume you are measuring the front cover height (block height) bottom to top, oil pan face to cylinder head face?

Well some thing is wrong. Yes the 1600 height is about 280 mm +or - . I measured my old 1600 with canister oil filter and 1975 1600 with spin on filter and they are both about 280 mm. But my 1750 548 block measures about 290 mm. This is not surprising as the 1750 has a longer stroke than 1600 and btw the same stroke as the 115 2 ltre engines which will have same cover/block height as the 1750.

The front cover on offer here is from a USA 2 litre FI engine and will only fit 115 series 2 litre engines Euro or USA spec. It may physically fit onto a 1750 block, (I do not know but probably not) but even if it did the oil passages will not match up.

So I must have a late model 1600 front cover on my early block.?
I was offered the part when I was gathering the bits together for my Sprint GTV engine. Coming from Austin Healeys was happy to offload the canister oil changes !

So as not to lead others astray, Can you go and edit your post above if you made some mistake in measurement or in undersanding what parts you were measuring. For example if you measure two 1600 covers and not one 1600 and one 1750.

As to your other question, probably that is what you did based on what little we know (So I must have a late model 1600 front cover on my early block.?). But as I do not know, others might, I think you should convince yourself that the later cover's oil ways match the earlier block's oilways. Is that engine together and running?
