I'm looking for some installation help/instructions for a 350 mm Forza Mahogany steering wheel I am thinking of putting on my 71' Spider. I love the stock wooden wheel, but at 6'3", 205 lbs. the lack of room between my right knee and the shift knob in 2nd gear is tight as heck and very challenging, especially during hard right turns. I've read that between the hub converter/extension, dish depth and smaller diameter wheel (15" stock down to the 13.7" Forza)) there's a chance I can get the relief I'm seeking without having to monkey with the gear shift, console, etc. I asked the folks at Centerline if they had instructions I could acquire prior to purchase, but they referred me to Alfa BB. Having never done a steering wheel swap I want to see what I'm getting in to. Thanks in a advance for any help you might be able to provide (a set of instructions would be ideal).

Smaller wheel is indeed a lifesaver for those with longer legs. I had to go to a "D" shaped 330mm wheel to get enough clearance. You'll need to make a tool or modify one of the commonly available pullers. Description of one can be found here:

I was not successful attempting to pull my steering wheel with a regular 3-jaw puller- it just started bending the wheel itself. I rented a steering wheel puller and modified it with appropriate sized threaded rod. It's a very easy job once you have the correct tool.

Having just finished pulling mine I know what it's like. First remove the plastic center cap. Just work your way around the center cap prying up gently and it should pop off. Then I would disconnect the horn wire so it's not in the way. Then you should see a big 27mm nut holding the wheel on. Back that nut off until its flush or a little bit further out. You do this so when you put the puller on it doesnt mushroom out the input shaft. Then Get your puller and 2x m6 by 1.0 thread bolts. Put your puller on and thread those 2 bolts into the 2 holes on the wheel. There should be one on top and one on bottom. Tighten everything up and spray some wd40 on the backside of the wheel. Then beat the daylight out of the end of the puller and hope it comes off.

Thanks. I'll check it out. The Forza from Centerline I wanted is literally stuck on a boat sitting in a harbor in Italy somewhere due to this virus mess. Could be months, they said.

I have an '88 and did something similar. I used a 3 inch spacer and a flat momo steering wheel. The 3" space put it close to the same distance as the original wheel. I also moved the gearshift lever over some and removed the trim near the accelerator pedal to give my big feet room.

There are several other sources, but finding the proper Alfa hub adapter seems to be a challenge out of the Alfa specialists. You may find one on Ebay, but beware: the Italian aftermarket steering wheels do not all have the same bolt circle. There are two types, one is Momo, the other one is Personal/Nardi. All new hubs are drilled for both patterns, but if you get a used one make sure it is right for your steering wheel.
