Should he have used the brakes when having this slipstream?? Way better start, while LEC was still dreaming of White X-Mas.

Sorry, that is called RACING. Nothing else. He managed to get away by plus 4 secs. So what? Why should LEC complain when not possible for him to follow?

That's nothing to do with VET fan or not. Racing or comedy, that's the question only.

I don't run Ferrari. Again if Vettel didn't want this agreement, why not say so before the race?

I have no idea what my RedTeam's tactics or strategies were, but when they injected their 'orders' into the equation, the racers' concentration-levels went right out their exhaust-systems! At that point neither were going to win that GP! Of course that's just my opinion.....

They are no more fighting for the WDC. So anything he tries to explain is they don't understand racing.

They tried to steal the win from VET and at the end they lost everything. Simply because LEC was NOT FAST ENOUGH yesterday.

Seb tried to show racing , the pit wall tried to show comedy. They fooled all spectators.

Have a look on the Driver of the day vote. Who won it?

VET. That simply says everything. Spectators want to see pure racing.

You seem to have a short memory, guys.

It was LEC who did 'forget' agreements (in practice!) in Monza which lead to a slapstick looking like last 5min of Q3. Do you remember that when talking of integrity??

Integrity in racing is something for No. 2 drivers.

No. 1 drivers, real champions, must be egoistic in a strong way. Or they will not be succesful. Hamilton is pure #1 in that game.

My RedTeam OWNS the front row in the Japanese GP!!! Vettel P1...Leclerc P2. Vettel sets new lap record, too. Bottas & Hamilton row 2.

Hopefully Ferrari won't screw-up in the race.....

Good decisions from the stewards, even from Kristensen, today.

Boring, boring, boring. Start, finish, 1 lap, everything in position until end.

LEC learned his next lesson today, like I proposed. Ruined VES's race, too.

Post-race update:

LEC got the right penalty. He denied to enter the pits to change wing despite stewards command!

VET clearly changed the game within 2 races.

Hamilton just might have taken Vettel on the "real" last lap, but the officials screwed the race up by calling it short by one lap. We will never know.

Whatever, he will most likely win the championship at Mexico. Clear, though, that Ferrari possibly have the best car out there right now, having added needed improvements to the cars, while Mercedes figured they had the championships in the eventual bag and started work on the 2020 cars instead, basically letting the cars perform as they have previously.

Would like to see a different team show up enough to win some races. Alfa sucks at this point.

And this is like pre Schumacher/Todt/Brawn/Bryne days. Ferrari always playing catch up.

Remember when Ferrari were ahead of the pack in the Schumacher/Todt/Brawn/Bryne days and would start the next season with last years car!

While it is great they have made their car now work, it's too little too late and as you say Del, I bet Mercedes stopped development and if they hadn't Ferrari would be nowhere. Ferrari should ALSO have stopped development of the 2019 car and put all their effort in to 2020. Hopefully they were using these 2019 races for testing 2020 ideas, but if not ... next year will be the same, and so will the year after, etc.

I have a great deal of time for Italian engineers, but they historically have not been innovators, more refiners of an idea until it is a thing of beauty ... or am I confusing by financially restricted Alfa Romeo's history?

Japan is apparently one of the drivers favourite tracks - specifically for the high speed challenge. But probably not the spectators or viewers, for us it was quite a boring race (we have been spoilt in the recent past for good races).

Not many rule changes on aero or engines coming for the 2020 season, so any updates that work on a 2019 car can also be read across to 2020. I think that with the drivers and manufacturers championships in MB hands now, Ferrari will be as likely to do ease off on 2019 development as MB.

Quite good fun to hear Hamilton decidedly hacked off at the Team for their tyre strategy decisions which gave him a safe third rather than a risky win or second. And Leclerc is still exciting to watch, though for the wrong reasons sometimes. Kudos to Albon for some aggressive driving and a career best 4th.

Verstappen understandably upset in his interviews (though no interviewer was brave enough to point out to him that Leclercs actions were exactly the sort of thing Verstappen would have done a few years ago....).

Toto Wolf curiously subdued in post race interviews, he claimed he was quiet because of the scale of the achievement of the 6th championship for MB. But he also looked like a man who had just come out of a blazing argument. Could it be a row with Hamilton?

A good win for Bottas who made the most of an extraordinary start (Ferrari need to sort their start system!) and looked quite shaken after the race.

And poor Alfa.... the battle now is against Haas to avoid coming second from bottom. Giovarnadi starting to beat Raikonnen more regularly now. Not sure what that says.

I haven't paid attention to next years rules, so this is promising. I would assume big budget teams are working on their updates already, both Mercedes and Ferrari.
Mercedes can obviously not bring them to the track yet, since it no longer changes this years outcome. But then if you wait until Feb., you have no experience with
those improvements. What does a team do?

Joe Saward is a good source, but it's all still a year away. Plus, Honda hasn't committed to F1 for the long term - can't remember if they're contracted with Red Bull through 2020 or 2021.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what develops around this time next year.

I knew my RedTeam would figure out a way to blow the Mexican GP: they 'lock-up' P1 & P2(after a dopey penalty to Verstappen).....they screw-up the tire "strategy".....they bungle Leclerc's too many pit-stops.....
they let Hamilton's whining 'out-smart' them.....I have no idea what Vettel's "plan" was.....hence, Hamilton wins.

Awful, just plain awful!
