Never mind about the reverse threaded question, I must have been tired and not thinking straight.
If I decide to put in the Alfaholics wheels, I'll probably have to re-stud it with longer studs anyway. It probably has short studs for the steel wheels.
From an engineering and safety standpoint, the ideal will have regular threads on one side, and reverse threads on the other, all positioned so that wear and vibration cause the nuts to become tighter rather than looser. With lugnuts, this is not critical, due to the redundancy of the design; with knock-off wheels it matters a lot.
