I posted a couple of days ago asking how to get the solenoid on my 1980 apart. I was assuming that a new one would be unavailable locally, and I'd have to order it from the States, with the attendant hassles. Turns out my local FLAPS lists them, got it delivered overnight, $40 with taxes. When I was going through the archives, I noticed a couple of posts to the effect that people have paid $200 in labour to replace a starter. Once I got the plenum off, it took me 30 minutes to get the starter out, five minutes to change the solenoid (well, it would have been five minutes if I didn't have to buy a new impact driver to get one screw out) and 30 minutes to install the starter. It's an easy job, because you can't go wrong, as long as you remember to undo the battery lead, and that the odd bolt is the middle one.
