Fascinating sales blurb. Is it true what the seller says about these so-called 'unincorporated' towns where you can drive around in anything you choose?

Surprisingly, I guess, yes. In the U.S., generally speaking, public transportation is not a realistic option outside the major cities. There might be perhaps one bus per hour at most. At the same time, older retirees do not want to retire in urban areas. This forces them to continue driving long after they (and everyone else on the road) are comfortable with the idea.

This factor, along with the general migration to the South has led to the development of what are called "Golf Cart Communities" which are designed with golf cart paths allowing people to go to stores, etc without have to use public roads.

My next door neighbor has a summer home in one up in the mountains of Arizona. He retreats there every spring when the weather gets uncomfortable here. His golf cart is customized, although he says nothing like those of his friends.

So, the bottom line is that, yeah, it's quite possible the guy was totally serious.

Nice save. Hope it goes to a good home. Bro had one of these, and it was fun to drive, but they tended to wear out tires quickly it seemed. The other thing I remember abut it was that it had continual carb jet plugging, even from new, the jets being so tiny. Finally had to install a couple of aftermarket fuel filters in line.

There are those basically "retirement towns", where it is usually a dedicated retirement community of houses and condo buildings, and the rules allow the use of golf carts and electric wheel chairs on the internal roads so that the older folks can get around easy. Many times these communities are adjacent to a golf course, and club house for retirement activities.
