Andreas Seidl has moved from McLaren to Sauber-Alfa Romeo as CEO and will searching for someone to actually run the team. He's a former VW employee, so he's likely at Sauber in anticipation of when Audi takes over in 2026. Alfa will be part of Suaber at least for this coming season, but maybe not for longer than that.

With this very anticipated news, I think it is now official. Ferrari will not be Constructors Champion in either 2023 or 2024.

21 + 2007 = 2028! So plenty of time for more embarrassing seasons. So frustrating as they are so close but so stupid at times. Personally, until Newey leaves RedBull and they snuck a little advantage by cheating the spend cap unless Mercedes comes back it will be like the Vettel years all over again.

Time to start adding weight to the race winners car I think. I hate the concept but with every other team being so bloody useless (and yes we ALL knew that Mercedes were ****ed with that silly no sidepod design. Copying Williams is NEVER a good idea :D), we need to promote racing somehow.

Pete, the front running teams are already being penalized by reduced wind tunnel time - and Red Bull especially with their overspend penalty, so let’s see how that plays out over the next few seasons. I suspect that the field will get closer.

"Newey certain penalty and aero rule change will affect Red Bull"

"Adrian Newey says the aerodynamic testing penalty that Red Bull is facing for breaching the cost cap, coupled with a change in floor regulations, will have an impact on the team’s performance."

50mm is 2" - that's a huge gap in aero terms.

It is and it was a rule change largely at the behest of Mercedes, who were the most susceptible to porpoising and which already caused them to raise their car at certain tracks above last year’s limits. Ferrari also suffered from porpoisong more than Red Bull, so I expect that Red Bull will be lose all of its advantage from last season. Of course, if anyone can get it right, it is Adrian Newey.

Overall, the increased ride height should permit softer suspension which will make the cars better over bumps and more comfortable for the drivers. I fear, however, that the rule change will benefit Mercedes to the extent that the zero side pod, with which they now have a year‘s experience, will become the preferred design and will lead to another year where no one can compete with Mercedes.

Pete, last we heard from Toto, late in the season, was that they were undecided. If so, they’ll be starting virtually from scratch. Mind you, it is also possible that with the raised ride height, so will everyone else!

I'm getting my wallet ready for what is bound to be much spending on Alfa F1 merch, considering it's our last year.

Vintage F1 merch is really hard to find and lots of $$$. That said - if anyone has anything Brabham-Alfa Romeo in their collection, PM ME!

I went to the Indycar race in Portland when Alfa built the Indy V8s for a beer company team... Miller? We went through the paddock and the team guys all had their loud beer logo shirts, but the engine guys were Italian. They spoke Italian. They had their own kits, with those light blue mechanics shirts with stitched, embroidered Alfa Romeo on them. I actually tried to figure out if I could get one. No dice.

I can't remember a year when there were so many team principal changes. It will be interesting. The racing has become much better under Liberty's control. Let's hope it will continue to get closer.

So, the Ford Red Bull deal.....

It seems to me this is mostly a sponsorship relationship, like Alfa to Sauber, plus some technical assistance on the electrical side.

Wasn’t the Porsche proposal to be the engine / PU supplier, not just a sponsor?

Horner said that Red Bull F1 race team is an independent team and that the powertrain deal would be a partnership only. Porsche desired an equal stake in the company that operates the race team, in effect becoming Red Bull-Porsche, rather than just joining as a power unit provider. So, they sent the below final statement.
