I currently have a manifold, which has 2 42mm exits to the primary damper.
The stock exhaust system (primary) has 2 entrances of 36-37mm.

If I can make the transition more gradual, would this still be too restrictive?

Freshly rebuilt engine is using Motronic and has standard internals.

Edit: car will be mainly used for normal street driving.

Have you talked to Jim? He has tested the question. I remember him saying a bigger exhaust made no HP difference.
But ask him and please get back to us.
