Has anyone ever found a standard off the shelf donut gasket that goes between the center muffler and cat ? This is for a '91 164L. International has them for $24.95 which seems quite expensive.

Thanks - Terry

Thanks Jason but I am wondering if this is something that can be sourced through the local parts stores. I think I used a generic for the center to rear muffler connection the last time but was wondering if anyone has used off the shelf for the center to cat connection.

Thanks - Terry

Sure, most likely, not really alfa specific.

But if you can't find anything let me know?

IAP gasket 64155 aka AR 60510816 between rear of cat and front of center muffler for B/L only 5.50. It is a gasket not a donut. What are you looking at?

Even Alfa Parts Catalog is only 5.45 for this gasket.

In the IAP catalog they show a donut gasket #64114 between the cat and the center muffler.

Thanks - Terry

Steve,

Sorry. You are correct. So the donut gasket I am looking for is #64114 which goes between the center & rear mufflers. I think I have used a generic for that one before. $24.95 seems like a lot of money for that part.

I'm looking at their catalog right now and it shows 64114 @ $9.25. 64155 @ $5.50.

I agree with Chazzy 64114 donut sealing ring is 9.25 in catalog. I don't see a 24.95 price. I see that 24.95 price on web site for 64114 but it surely must be an error. I would call them on 800 number and see what is up.

Donut sealing ring 60801538 is now actually stocked under a Lancia part number 82407147 as listed by Jason in next post.

I just sent Rob at IAP an email to see what is the current price for it, standby.

I called IAP and was told the $24.95 price was correct that they had issued a price increase on that part. Can anyone tell me what the OD of the end of the pipe is so I can see if I can get one locally before placing an order ?

Thanks - Terry

If Jason has 82407147 (60801538) exhaust sealing ring for 7.25 and difatta has it listed for 9 and alfa parts catalog has it listed for 7.49 it sounds like something wrong with IAP pricing for their 64114.

Looks like OD is 2 3/4", ID 2 3/8" and thickness about 3/8" with rounded outer edge like a "donut". It is steel.

What does the center muffler actually do ? Has anyone ran a straight pipe between the cat and the rear muffler ? What would the results be ?

Thanks - Terry

My son has straight pipe in place of center muffler and stock S rear muffler and it sounds fine but a bit more aggressive sounding in a good way. If you have a L rear muffler it will not be as loud. Still using front gasket and rear sealing ring though with pipe welded into existing pipes cut off center muffler.

IAP responded to my email about price of sealing ring and it is for NOS from Alfa so that is the current price.

Thanks Steve. I may try the center pipe rather than the muffler as I wouldn't mind something a little more aggressive than stock. Getting into the performance exhausts are a little to aggressive for my tastes on this car so maybe the straight pipe is a good compromise.

In case this helps someone, I have two versions of this gasket. One is an IAP-sourced fiber composition gasket, and one is a solid copper version. Both have three bolt holes.

64155 - IAP label pasted over Fiat/Lancia/Alfa package
0060510816 - original label for fiber composition gasket

0605108160 - Ricambi Originali packaged solid copper gasket

I also have an Alfa Romeo orange-packaged solid copper gasket for the 164L joint between flex tubes and the front of the cat converter. This is 0060510307 and is smaller diameter than the 164S part. I thought I had a 164S part, too, but can't find it. Oh, well. I sure hope this helps someone somewhere somewhen. I stumbled across this thread on a Google search looking for confirmation of some part number to application information. When I discovered that two versions of the rear cat gasket existed made of different materials, I thought someone else might be subject to confusion and I hope to clear that up for whoever it might be.

Another apples and oranges type story as 164B/L uses one 3-bolt hole usually copper gasket at rear of cat. The LS uses steel donut type gasket for rear of cat same as used on all models for rear muffler connection. The 164S cat has two rear outlets and each one uses different gasket one is a 3-bolt gasket and other one is a sealing ring of some sort.

Alfa ex gasket part numbers from engine to back of car:
60506636 ex manifold to head gasket 164 12v V6 (6 ea)
60510306 ex pipe to manifold gasket (2 each) 164B/L/S
60510307 two pipe cat inlet copper gasket 164B/L
60805010 or 60571802 two pipe cat inlet gasket 164S
60510816 3-bolt hole rear cat outlet gasket 164B/L
82473321 R/R cat outlet gasket 164S
82420455 L/R cat outlet sealing ring 164S
82407147 sealing ring rear muffler to center muffler 164 all and 24v rear cat outlet
60573536 ex manifold to head 24v (6 ea)
60654239 gasket ex pipe to manifold (2 ea) 164LS/Q 24v
60573540 front cat inlet gasket (2 ea) 164LS/Q 24v

Steve, et al.

One of these?

Frank
That sealing ring should be the 82407147 sealing ring for rear muffler all 164 and rear of 24v cat to center muffler.

See my part numbers I added above post.

I think I also shipped you a spare 24v front cat front gasket 60573540 and some other 24v gaskets I had.
