On the way home on Sunday I noticed a metallic rattling noise pulling at low RPM, a bit like pinking but louder, after a while it stopped but there is a definate vibration when the engine is pulling slowly. It stops if you rev the engine out of gear.

I haven't had time to look closely but I can't see anything obviously wrong with the prop or exhauste pipe. I replaced the engine and trans mounts and prop centre bearing a couple of years ago, any other ideas?

If it's RPM related it's most likely not the driveshaft, but will be somewhere in the engine/trans combo. Grab and wiggle everything. Driveshaft center bearing would likely make noise only when the car is moving, but can't hurt to get under there and check everything.

Many years ago my 105 broke an engine mount metal tower at the engine end. From memory the symptoms were similar & it was very hard to spot - the mount looked normal at rest.
