I didn't want to camp onto Veronica post but I too am hearing an odd noise under the hood. The noise i am hearing sounds like it is coming from the front can belt pulley and sounds like an "OWL" constantly hooting I guess is the best that I can describe it.

Should I follow the same suggestions Steve made to Veronica or is that sound indicative of something that is known?

Just wondering if I'm ever going to be able to get to the fun stuff like new wheels and paint instead of mechanical stuff for a supposedly rebuilt car.

You almost always have to first remove serpintine belt and run engine to see if noise goes away with accessories out of play (that includes water pump).

Sounds doesn't seem to change with RP's. Remains somewhat constant in sound and duration.
