Hi, does anyone have any experience converting their spider from gasoline to electric? EV West in Santa Ana has some crate conversion motors with regenerative brakes for VW and Porsch 914. I'm hoping one will work with my 91 Spider Veloce. Add a used Tesla battery pack and you should be able to get 200+ miles per charge, meet CA emissions and rebirth my AFLA for future. Any thoughts?

Then you can put a lawn mower engine in your washing machine. :)

awmhrn: don't pay any attention to these (and other ) nay-sayers.
It's normal to pick on a guy when their "posts' numbers say "1'.
No body gets a free pass around here. ..

OK, Back to the topic at hand: This conversation has been done a number of times and it always gets a bit of "blow back" from the old "crabby guys" (I get called that once in a while) but if you do your home work, spend the money required, and submit lots of pictures, it will work out OK.

I don't have any info on the conversation but I just wanted to give you some support so you won't go off and not tell us about you project plans.

Oh yea, Welcome to the Alfa Asylum.....

I am in the middle of converting an S3 to electric. Using the HPEVS AC51 motor and 72 Leaf battery modules. There is one other recent conversion also on the BB. it shoiuld show up on a search. I am expecting 125 mile range. Plenty of seat time in the spider for my 6ft frame.
