Since I bought my 69 Spider I have a new pass-time of looking for parts. This is more parts than I need.

eBay Motors: 1969 Alfa Romeo Spider for parts (item 250184981931 end time Nov-10-07 05:12:07 PST)

Actually doesn't look so bad for $1500 BIN. Maybe even a good resto candidate for someone with metal working and mechanical skills looking to get into boat-tail ownership on the cheap.

I dunno - the picture of the RR corner shows some pretty significant rust around the RR wheelarch - the condition of the rockers, floors, and other wheelarches isn't shown in any of the other photos. The car looks like it has been stored in the open for sometime ("open" meaning out in the rain with the top down). And, it looks to be sitting on dirt, ensuring that it gets exposed to moisture from the bottom as well as the top.

Sure, the seller may be ignorant, offering a sound car for a below-market price. Or he may be a philanthropist, wanting to make sure the Alfa community has a reasonably-priced supply of rust-free cars. Or, the thing may be a rustbucket. Only an in-person inspection will tell.

I don't mean to sound like a killjoy here, or like I'm flaming AlfaSoon - I've certainly gone to look at, and even bought my share of rusty Alfas. I'm just cautioning any BB members that this car merits a physical inspection before assuming that it is a way "to get into boat-tail ownership on the cheap". Still, as AlfaSoon says, there are a lot of roundtail parts there for $1,500 (though at least one side of the front bumper appears to be missing).
