Duetto Hardtop

I finally picked up my Duetto Hardtop and it is in dire need of refinshing I am tempted to paint it Gloss black or red as opposed to redoing the vinyl finish. I would appreciate the input of anyone who has done this or considered it. The car is very original car apart from carpets and wheels though I have the original wheels
