These are not for the GTA...and it uses the normal Marelli Caps...It is an 'emission control' set-up for '76 to '79 Alfetta and Spider 2 litres.

well, i feel a little less ignorant now. i was hoping i was doing someone a favor . . .

now, someone please explain to me how dual points helps lower emissions

The Marelli S166B serves two purposes. One is that under high load conditions, the secondary points come into play to retard the ignition timing a few degrees. This prevents knocking. As a result of this, under low and medium load conditions, the ignition timing is advanced a few degrees which can favorably effect emissions and fuel economy.
