what a standard steel wheel on a 74 GTV weighs without the tyre? Ive searched but cant find the info. on the BB.

I want to see how much heavier alloy wheels are than steel. I have a steel wheel with a Michelin XAS fitted, that weighs 16 kg (approx 35 lb) but I dont have anything to remove the tyre, so i can`t weigh the rim seperately.

For What It's Worth:

Michelin inner tube weighed 1 pound 8 ozs.

Stock 14" Steel Alfa rim weighed 17.0 pounds

Michelin 165 HR 14 tire weighed 18.0 pounds

Small hubcap weighed 6 ozs.

Sorry, don't know conversions!

Standard kitchen and bathroom scales.

Measured these about a month ago...

Thanks for the info ScottAlfa, Ive read comments about alloys weighing more than the standard wheels and wanted to know what the differences really were. Im tossing up whether to go with a 14" or 15" wheel. As a guide a 15x7 Superlite weighs about 19lb, not a lot more than the standard steel wheel. Im guessing a 14x6 or7 would weigh about the same as the standard wheel. Im going to weigh the various low profile tyres (195 60 ish) to see how close I can get to the weight of the original wheels. Lighter would be good.
