Would it be possible to use the crankshaft from a 1750 105 engine in the 116 1.8 engine and then use the flywheel etc from the 105?

Would this cause any problems ?
The 105 flywheel should have 8 holes while the 116 crank could already have the 6 hole version. Check that first.

I am aware we have to modify the crank to 8 pins as well as for the bearing. I will be balanced as well while its out. From what I understand I still need to find a 115 oil pan and oil pump.

You can't modify the 6 hole crank to 8 holes.
Thank you. After 15yrs in the aircooled VW world I still have a lot to learn about my Duetto. Is the item from Alfaholics the correct one for mounting a 6 pin crank to the 115 bell housing?

It's not the question about the bell housing. If you have a crankshaft with 8 holes you need a flywheel w/8 holes. You've asked for fitting a 1750/105 CS which should have 8 holes. Did you check how many mounting holes your CS you want to fit really has?

If crank is coming from an 116, you need to check depth of pilot bearing bore in the crank/rear boss. Some 116 cranks need to be modified to take a 105/115 pilot bearing.
