This is what Alfa factory tools look like installed to hold down cylinder liners in a 164 V6 engine. I pulled heads off my son's ebay parts car today.

I'm using 5" long, 1/2" conduit and large washers. Works fine, but the factory tools are of course the most elegant solution.

Nothing beats the real thing! Very nice looking hold down tools.

They sure work nice when you spin the engine with the starter so liners can't move, too.
