I need to have my Cromodora wheels treated so they will not corrode I would like to use the Tagnite process because it is more robust that Dow 7 or Dow 17. If the lug inserts are steel this process will be too costly due to masking. These inserts don't seem to be magnetic, does anyone know what they are made of ?

I am watching this thread with interest.

I found that the lug inserts on a 1982 Campagnolos are ferrous. I have prevented magnesium corrosion by spraying, rubbing, and polishing liberal amounts of DuPont Tri-Flow on the surfaces.

What would be wrong with the factory finish of zinc chromate primer and paint ( urethane ) ?

Note....
you can still get the real zinc chromate primer at airplane suppliers like Aircraft Spruce.
Quart or spray can.
