I would not call $161k (Right now at 10.20am Pacific) a crazy bidding war for a lightweight Giulietta. over 20 min to go and the car has ways to go ... I predict that this car will stay below the blue one that sold a few weeks back.

I guess I missed something here... Even though included, wrong engine, wrong transmission, wrong brakes and wrong wheels. I didn't read far enough (don't really care) but I would assume the rear end ratio was change too... Essentially it is a modern GTV. Mmm. Modern GTVs don't cost $250K and unless you are a specialist and it is going to run about another $40K to put the car back to where it belongs.

I have a 750 series Giulietta and the best thing about it is the light direct experience behind the wheel. I also have 101 1600 Spider and Spider Veloce and they are seriously different from the 750 Series cars. I can't understand the need or desire to turn a 750 series car into something it isn't. My Giulietta is totally capable on any modern freeway but I didn't buy it to cruise interstate. Why dilute/eliminate the driving experience... May as well take an Uber.

Reserve met according to the seller. Not sure if the extra time is due to technical issues or they automatically do that with high end cars. There have been some issues in the past where bidders couldn't bid in the last few minutes so maybe that's why the time was extended.

Any time there is a bid and the clock is under 2 min, they reset the clock back to 2 min.
So the "winning" bid has to be good for the last 2min. of the bidding.
I have seen the clock be reset (back to 2 min.) 5 or 6 times in past auctions

We want to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to bid and have extended this auction 1 hour to account for bids appearing as blank that some were experiencing earlier today. Our tech team has deployed a fix and is working to ensure auction closes are smooth throughout the day. Please take note of the new end time and thanks again for your patience.

There have been no bids for the last 30-40 min.
The last 5 min time period is going to long and great to watch.
Once the auction is completed they will remove the bidding numbers so if you go away
and come back tomorrow you will miss the fun,
Take your Pee Break before too long... ;)
Looks like there are 4 or 5 guys who really want this car and they look like they can afford it.

The 22-gallon fuel tank is a curious detail. Were all of the lightened models of the period equipped with such large-capacity fuel tanks? (Which would seem to counteract many of the weight-saving measures like aluminum door panels, the removal of sound-deadening material, etc.)

@Tom&RobsAlfas the bidders are trying to purchase the chassis number and shell, etc. that hangs off it. It is a lightweight Sprint!

Yes somebody should be beaten for the restoration, but many original bits go with the car and a fairly simple restoration later it can be returned to how it should be.

You can spend a fortune on a GTV or Sprint and it will never be a genuine lightweight
