Anyone noticed that certain replacement engine cooling fans (6 wide blade) have a different hub offset from the original? This creates problems for those with A/C cars as the fan now sits too close to the engine and rubs against the A/C pulley.

Does anyone sell true reproductions of the cooling fan with the proper offset? Otheriwse, any ideas on where to obtain a 10 mm match-drilled shim? 10 mm is the difference in offset between the original and repro units.

all mine have a 10mm shim that came with the cars, two were aircon, all the fans I've gotten have fit when I put the shim back in I suspect there is no difference in the fans.

Was this shim plastic or metal? Could you tell whether it was Alfa OEM or hand-fabricated? It looks like I may have to go the self-fab route. Thanks.
