I am working on restoring the top boot and have a couple of questions about the two plastic forms that fit on the left and right.

What adhesive should I use to attach the new boot to the two plastic forms?

Do you have a picture of your plastic forms (underside of the boot) so I can see the orientation of the forks at the end that secure them to the convertible top frame (close to the door) on each side. My forks are broken off.

there are some photos in this thread, posts #4 and #6
Top Boot Installation w/plastic clips 87 Spider

as for glue I'd get something good and strong from an upholsters shop.
some ideas here
attaching plastic to vinyl on boot cover?

you can buy forks, they're handed (a left, PN 60520260 and a right PN 60520259)
If you can find the original plastic forks, that's what I'd go for....the metal ones do not fit great and scratch the frame.

Note: if your boot is a faithful reproduction it will have "flaps" about an inch or so wide that the plastic forms slide under. The plastic only gets glued to the underside of these flaps - not to the boot material. The pictures in the second thread Dom shared show it best. And actually looking at that thread closer the flap glue thing is mentioned in post #6 there.

Just wanted to make sure you'd noticed that.

Thank you. Appreciate the help. Going to Upholster to get the "good" glue.

Chris, thanks for the tip on only gluing the last 1" of the flap.

Upholster uses Weldwood Contact Cement for projects like this in their shop. It is stocked by both Home Depot and Lowes.
