My 164 starts fine, runs fine on the highway, but after a run on the highway, it dies at stop lights unless I keep the gas on and the idle way up. Half tank of gas, no fumes smell. I couldn't find something similaron the bb gong back about a year.

Maybe its just an idle thing, de oxit on the afm connectors, etc? fuel?

ALSO, check idle actuator and Bosch connector on back of intake for starters.

Change the sparkplugs as well. Crudded up plugs can cause this very problem. My 91S went through this earlier this winter when the plugs (NGK Iridiums) gave out before I expected (20k miles). Car would die at stoplights. Cleaned and regaped the plugs, car ran better, but chose to change plugs (new NGK's) and the problem went away.

The 164S I rebuilt for my wife a couple of years ago had this stalling problem until I washed out the idle air controller. Some may be bad enough off to need replacing, but I was able to simply clean it out with brake cleaner and all started working well.
