Hi

I was wondering if anybody has a source for the captive fastener that holds the side view mirrors onto the door, in the GTV6.

I believe these are called "Cage Nuts" sometimes also called "Clip On Nuts" or more generally "Captive Nuts". Some images are below.

These nuts have little sheet metal tangs that let them fit into square holes. The tangs are prone to snapping off. Thus the need for spares.

These are used all over the GTV6 not just on the door / rear view mirror.

Bye

Mt. Carmel Spares isn't shipping product right now (I just tried for other things). Any alternative source anyone know for this and other plastic body clips that Mt. Carmel usually has?

MilanoGuy - you might try Highwood Alfa.

I could never find suitable replacements. I also spoke with my mechanic and he said you more or less had to strip the door skin off the frame to reinstall them. Since mine is not a show car by any stretch, I ended up using some hardware store speednuts (1/8" maybe?) and drilling new holes for the mirror bolts, using the original holes to insert the speednuts. Not the prettiest solution, but once the mirror base is installed you'd never know. Treat the metal where you drill the new holes and it should be fine.

Hi Michael-

I need: Door Panel Clips, Underhood Insulation Clips, and Exterior Trim Clips.

Got any of them?
