In the process of adjusting valve clearances on my '85 Graduate, I found the intake cam was a tooth advanced and the exhaust cam is retarded. The PO has changed the intake cam to a cam with mechanical advance, doing away with the VVT solenoid. I wonder if the intake cam was then advanced to accommodate that change or if it should be set to the original timing marks.

The timing mark on the exhaust cam is a little over an eight of an inch retarded, measuring between the marks with my calipers....kinda Anyway I can see that the lock nut and cotter key on the cam adjustment have been "worked" on. Should I set this cam forward to the original spec as well?

As always, all thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Neil
