I found a lot of threads to the horrors of changing the cable on the window - but I didn‘t find the information how to adjust the top stop on an installed window. If I wind it it up, I can overshoot the window frame by 2 inch. I have heard you have to loosen or tighten somewhere….

Marcel,
after removing the door card, roll the window all the way to the top. The window itself is clamped to the cables at the bottom. Loosen the two clamps and slide the window down to the desired height. After making sure that the window is straight, retighten the clamps and check for propper function. You will probably have to adjust it a couple of times to get it to work correctly.
