Hi. I have a 1750 GTV, series 2, floor pedals. I ordered a new brake regulator valve from the UK and the bendix valve I received looks nothing like what is currently in the car. The current valve is cylinder like with the valve on the end.

Can I replace the current valve with something like a Tilton. Also the current valve has a wired switch on the bottom of it. What is this switch for? The brake light switch on my model sits in the engine bay on a brass t section.

Any help appreciated.

I replaced mine with a Tilton from Alfaholics & I love it.

The switch is a brake light switch, there are 2, one on each circuit. I just went with only using the front one. One day I might get round to installing something to mount the rear switch & reconnect it.

Hi, i have recently been through the same issue. The new valve works like the old one but it needs a modified set up. I made up an adaptor plate to reuse the original mount, put a brass "T" in line next to the valve to accomodate fit the brake light switch. All up cost was about $12 spent at the local brake specialist. I had to make a new short piece of brakeline as well but luckily had access to a good flaring tool. It all works as it should. The VTNZ warrant inspector questioned the set up but my regular garage gives it a warrant with no issue. Assuming you are in NZ, if you put a Tilton adjustable valve in I believe you will need to get the car certified which will carry a one off cost.
