Hello All,

Trying to repair the brake lights on my 1959 two liter. Any idea where I might find a replacement brake light switch. This is the pressure switch connected to the rear of the master brake cylinder.

Also, thanks Ruedi for your very helpful suggestiuons. I was able to isolate the brake light switch as the problem with your help.

The brake light switches are the same for 750/101/102/106 and early 105 cars. OK Parts in Germany has them (see here) and so does IAP in the USA (see here) and probably many more.

Go to your local parts shop and ask for a two poled switch with 1/8" NPT thread. Used on plenty of cars 1950-1980.
I'm pretty sure 1/8" is too small (off the top of my head, it's more like 1/2"). The tip is valid though. Take the switch to a parts shop and see what fits.

Brake Light Switch Equivalents

I have a Lucas Interchange reference which shows a Lucas # 34542 for the switch.

Same number shows up for 1965 Austin, MG, '64 Rover. I believe also for Volvo 122 and 1800, and some Jaguar from the period. Volvo # 1501091

Hope this helps.
