I am on a quest to clean up my engine bay and my brake booster is uuugggllllyyyy! In a '69 Mk1, standing pedal, non- US 1750 GTV what is the proper booster finish? Black or gold cad?

I’m pretty sure they were all cad plated from factory, except if it’s the Lockheed booster, which was black.

Cad plating may no longer be an option in most countries due to environmental impact of cadmium.....so zinc plating tends to be the most environmentally acceptable option with either a yellow chromated or yellow iridite dichromated finish.

You can still find Cad plating. But, most suppliers don't want to do auto restoration and/or won't take the time and care with your parts - catalog them and return without loss, etc.
This outfit will. Not cheap though: Plating by Queen City Plating Inc.

Thanks for all the feedback. My booster is a Lockheed booster so black it is. Just ordered one..
