Hi, just joined. Great site! Got a question you might be able to help with.

The bootlid of my 2000GTV leaks in heavy rain or when I wash the car. I have changed the seal to the thin type you can now get, but it has not got any better. I have got the seal that is on the car, not the earlier type that glues to the bootlid. I cannot find the proper original seal (wider and very soft).

So, has anyone got the same problem and found a solution?

It would be a shame to leave it like it is now, I have a rustfree spare tire well and I'd like to keep it that way!

Thanks.

Welcome to the BB Mr. Giugiaro!
I, too, have the thin style boot gasket but haven't installed it yet (long story). Is it possible that the hinges and/or latch may need to be adjusted to compensate for the thinner gasket?

Thanks Jim,

Quick reply, I guess this forum get s a lot use! hadn't thought of adjusting the hinges, I'll check it out. I guess if you adjust it too much it would cause the bootlid to sit too low? I'll let you know how I get on.

Mine leaks too, though I think it comes in around the rear light gaskets more than the boot lid.

I've grown used to it.... it's part of the "ownership experience"
