Air cleaner canister

Bill,

Not to hijack this year-old thread, but I was told to contact you because you convert 1600 Normale twin-snout air filter canisters into the Veloce-style oval snout ones. I have no interest in passing my Abnormale off as the real McCoy, I just need a Veloce-Style one for my twin Webers with the oval shaped plenum top.

If you still do these, I would be glad to box my Normale unit up and send to you right away; just let me know where to send your money.

Thanks so much,

Air canister

Bill

Thanks for your reply.

I really like the fact that your design retains the filter access via the center screw flange and all the swage lines.

As the engine is complete, but not installed in the car, I don't know how much higher the alternator is than the original generator. Will that affect the length of the air intake tube/snout thingie?

Do you powder coat the units, as well?

Oh, yes; as this Abnormale will be black with a red interior, I will be needing one of those Salchi black paint stickers and the decal sheet/s for a 1964 Giulia Spider w/ disc brakes. Not certain how specific the decals are, so you may need more info.

And, what is the charge for all this and how do you want to receive payment?

Thanks, again

Ray,
Your alternator better fit close to where the Generator was or you will hit the steering box. the snorkel is out of the way on the other side of the steering box.

Decal kit isn't a sheet but individual decals for your particular car. They are printed from my Art work by an outdoor sign company, they are quite durable. I would need to know which Oil filter it has, which wheels, what color etc. for your car's original equipment. Kit's are $80 and quite comprehensive. Uncle Rick says too comprehensive, so you might want to edit for elegance. (I do).

I could make the air cleaner if you are not in a huge hurry, I'm buried right now. I would need your old Air cleaner for parts.

Yves,
I had to get an air cleaner from Europe. All is good.

Canister

Bill,

I've attached a photo of the engine with the alternator attached, though the head was not installed. I think the alternator isn't any "higher" than the generator would be, so the snout will be fine.

I have a modified spin-on type of oil filter, am running Borrani steel wheels (at the present time) and though he car was originally white, it will be paint black. I suppose all the other stickers would be as a "typical" 4/15/1964 built Giulia Spider left the factory, but you're the expert in these matters.

PM your address and I'll box up the unit I have and send it out to you right away. I understand you're ALWAYS covered up; I'm in no rush. I'm impressed that you can do this in ONE day! I look forward to having it on the Spider.

I know this kind of work must run contrary to your bent toward originality, so I very grateful that you do this at all!

Thanks,

Ray

Ray,
Your Alternator looks fine but don't use a longer belt than the shortest you can get on. Space is tight. I have been using the Dynator alternators they look like the original generator.

Pm me for my address.
Ciao,
Bill

My black 64, (I took the Webers off)!

Bill, might get lucky if you try a trucking supply company for filters. They might have the one you are looking for, as I do know they carry cartridge oil filters like Wix and others.
